Why is it that the innocents always fall victim to the casualties of war? Why is it that the innocents always just happened to be a component of misfortune? Or impotent enough to be involved in constant ordeal?
I’ve been having these questions, inner conversations subjecting myself to partake in dialecticism – every now and then when I read and look up war stories from our pasts. Whether it is world war 1, ww2, the great war, mongol’s invasion throughout the history, mankind has waged war against each other in the hopes of achieving either personal or collective gain. At the cost of a few hundred thousand souls being disposed of without even a slightest of consideration to the loss of human life. Since when did we start developing such consciousness enough to overlook the repercussions that fate may throw at us.
In light of recent geopolitical conflicts between nations and the so-called ‘super powers’, the element of death has never been far from us. No matter where the bomb or the warheads are pummeled, the majority of the casualties are always the ones who have nothing to do with the conflict whatsoever, leaving the collateral damage aside. Let’s wind the clock back to the middle ages. During the Mongol invasion countless over countless bodies were piled up, what could’ve been a mountain of corpses if they were to be stacked up vertically. Did those poor souls have any say in the war or the supposed conflicts?.
Let’s keep the wars aside for a moment, in the event of an unprecedented disaster the one who is likely to succumb to being a tragic victim is the one whom you may say ‘they guy who wouldn’t hurt a fly’. It’s not a glorifying thing to express one as an innocent man. You might be wondering what sort of a wicked-ulterior argument that I am coming up with, I’ll tell you – it ain’t a trick, something that’s predominantly prevailing, can’t be the first can it? Well, in the subsequent passage you will know why.
It’s an irrefutable fact that we have learned hitherto that whether you accept it or not the innocents always pay the price regardless of the nature of the occurrence. The truth that I am exploring is simple. Whether it falls under the constants of the universe. When I say constant I would like to clarify that the context is more ideologically inclined. It doesn’t matter if you know it’s coming but it does when you are aware. For instance take the recent pandemic or the old one i.e. The Black Death AKA the bubonic plague, or the train that was set off to Auschwitz, (which indeed served a purpose in the grand scheme of event however we will discuss that in-depth in the upcoming blogs) where the poor souls destined to doom just waiting to be devoured by whatever by the force of nature. I can assure you that in the aftermath, the ones that remain unaffected are the ones that will most probably be prudent, informed and refuse to accept death at any point or rather adamant on dictating their own fate. It’s at this exact reason where I would propose my hypothesis i.e. that innocence is synonymous with ignorance!
